The Dorset Doddle is an incredibly tough 32 mile hike along the Dorset Coast
Path from Weymouth to Swanage which is anything other than a “doddle!” It’s a very
difficult 32 mile walk with a total of approximately 3000 metres of ascent and
descent and must be completed within 12 hours. Quite a challenge given the
terrain and certainly not for the feint hearted.
Duncan will be participating in the Dorset Doddle event on the 20th Aug 2023
on behalf of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF).
The JTYAF supports young people from a wide range of youth organisations in
Dorset and Wiltshire, providing them with scholarships and bursaries to support
their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions. Recipients of
the Charity’s Young Achievers Awards are selected for their demonstration of
the Foundation’s key values: courage, determination, unselfishness, and
cheerfulness in adversity. The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF)
honours the life of Lt John ‘JT’ Thornton RM, from Ferndown, Dorset, who was
tragically killed in southern Afghanistan on 30th March 2008.
We would like to wish Duncan every success in his endeavour
for this most worthy cause. If you would like to track Duncan’s training progress
or make a gratefully received donation, please follow the link below. Good luck
Duncan!
